With the new capabilities to have our DME application activated upon selected events, we will finally be able to supply our customers with the same capabilities as we have on the other device platforms (e.g. Symbian and Windows Mobile 6.5).

We are also happy to see the new Calendar APIs, something our customers have been requesting since the first version of iPhone. We will extend DME to offer the same combination of data protection as we have on the other platforms, where customers can choose to keep calendar data within DME, to have only the time and date synchronized to the calendar (for alarms) - or to have everything synchronized between DME and the native calendar.

Being able to perform actual device management is also something we have hoped to see, and we are delighted to start working with the new features. We expect to be able to incorporate these new iPhone capabilities, with the device management features we support for all the other platforms.

Android support as phones mature and high demand expected
Based on Android's expected market adoption and many customer inquiries, Excitor initiated development of a DME client for the Android mobile operating system this summer for phones such as HTC Magic and HTS Hero. The DME Android client is currently in the final testing phase and Excitor expects it to be available in January 2010. The Android DME client will in the first release contain Basic Mobile Device Management capabilities such as device inventory, traffic logging, file sync and configuration of access points, bookmarks, and application blocking. In Spring 2010, a secure e-mail client will be released.

Quite a few organizations have a very mixed mobile device environment including BlackBerrys (often for upper management).
